Thinking about getting IUD?
Check with doctor.
What is IUD?
Birth control for busy moms

IUD is an intrauterine device (IUD) that’s over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. It’s made of soft, flexible plastic and placed into your uterus by your healthcare provider during a routine office visit.

IUD releases small amounts of hormone directly into the uterus and lasts as long as YOU want, for up to 5 years.

It is important to note that IUD is recommended for women who have had a child. IUD does not protect against HIV or STDs.

Choose IUD
  • Highly effective at preventing pregnancy, over 99%
  • Lasts as long as YOU want, for up to 5 years
  • Your doctor can remove IUD at any time, so you can try to become pregnant right away

Within a year of having IUD removed, about 8 out of 10 women succeed at becoming pregnant.

If you have a pelvic infection, get infections easily or have certain cancers, IUD is not right for you.

How will IUD affect my period?

When you choose IUD for birth control,
  • Bleeding and spotting may increase in the first 3 to 6 months
  • Your period may remain irregular
  • Your periods over time usually become shorter, lighter, or may stop
  • Your period will return once IUD is removed

Our doctors have had undertaken training and had extensive experience at inserting IUD. The insertion and removal procedures can be performed in our clinic's treatment room.

There are certain requirements and risks involved with both IUD. A woman interested in using IUD should be prepared to attend two appointments. The first to discuss how well IUD will suit you and to get a prescription. The second for insertion of IUD.

Please let the receptionist know when making an appointment that you would like to make an appointment to discuss the IUD. You will need to see the GP for an examination prior to having the IUD inserted.
